Cannabis North Shore Recycling

If you’ve purchased cannabis before, it’s hard to miss the excessive, wasteful packing that comes with every individual purchase. North Shore recycling is here to fix that problem.

It’s fairly common to see cannabis products sealed in double or even triple the amount of packaging one would think is necessary for any product available for purchase. Due to stringent specifications set out for this industry by Health Canada, there are a few extra rules for cannabis and how it can be packaged for consumers. These extra rules, like being unable to reuse or refill containers and being unable to use the highly favourable clear plastic further complicates the ability to recycle cannabis related packaging.

Here at North Shore Cannabis, we believe the improvement for this issue rests upon the shoulders of all retail stores providing recreational cannabis to the public. With sustainability at the forefront of our business operations, we have taken the steps to ensure sustainable disposal of cannabis packaging is a seamless, obvious choice for patrons. In order to help our North Shore community recycle we are partnering with EcoAction Recycling so that you may recycle your cannabis packing in store.

Items that can be returned:

Non medical dried flower packaging (look for codes 1, 2 or 5)

Non medical cannabis beverage packaging, such as cans and bottles

Any paper or cardboard cannabis packaging

Vape cartridges and batteries

(at our location on 1520 Barrow St.)

$0.10 for each empty package returned up to a total of 10% off the order

$0.50 for each empty vape cartridge returned up to a total of 10% off the order

We also offer recyclable bags for in-store purchases, and have followed the most current LDB guidelines to ensure NSC meets the energy and sustainability requirements set out for the retail cannabis stores.

Using high efficiency LED lighting, installing flooring which doesn’t require waxing or polishing, and reducing our use of chemicals by choosing green cleaning products are just some of the ways North Shore Cannabis chooses to be “green”.

By seeking out retailers like NSC who are committed to adhering to a framework of sustainability within the communities in which they operate, we can guarantee both a brighter and greener future for everyone who calls the North Shore home.
